Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, NYFW Spring 2021When the coronavirus pandemic began in early 2020, some people wondered if the world would look the same when it was over.
At first, the optimists frowned at the idea that a virus could…

Michael Kors Partners With ‘007’ Film Franchise for MKC x 007 Bond Capsule Collection

Michael Kors has met his jet-set match in James Bond. The company has forged an exclusive partnership with the “007” film franchise for the MKC x 007 Bond Capsule Collection.
Recognizing the 25th anniversary of the James Bond films and the release of the latest installment, “No Time to Die,” the franchise will introduce a limited-edition capsule collection featuring the Michael Kors Bancroft satchel, which is featured in the movie.
The world premiere of “No Time to Die,” will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on March 31; the film will be released in the U.K. on April 2 and the U.S. on April 10.
The capsule consists of three pieces, which will be available in select Michael Kors stores worldwide, on michaelkors.com and on the franchise’s official web site, 007.com, starting in late March.
The Bond Bancroft satchel can be seen throughout the film on the character Eve Moneypenny, played by Naomie Harris. The other items consist of a Bond carryall, rendered in calf leather, and Bond duffel, in luggage-hued cotton canvas, both featuring an exclusive MKC x 007 leather luggage tag. The Bancroft is $ 1,750, the carryall is $ 2,350, and the duffel is $ 1,950.

Michael Kors Collection Pre-Fall 2020

Investment dressing, versatility, timelessness. In this age of environmental awareness, it’s front-and-center of the fashion discussion. As Michael Kors nears his 40th anniversary in business (not a typo — 40 years), he’s thinking about those characteristics relative to his own work. So much so that as he prepared his pre-fall collection, Kors did some archive-surfing, and identified some timeless pieces, including a windowpane ruana over a bodysuit and culottes from 1981. He thought it looked darned good, and to open his pre-fall presentation (he calls it “transseason”) he reissued the look fairly faithfully, minus the overdone makeup and flashy jewelry.
The ruana’s vague southwestern feel got Kors thinking about the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum he’d seen a while back — “her clothes, so modern” — and the explosive cultural moment country and the American West are experiencing right now. He rattled off a litany: Orville Peck, Lil Nas X, the indomitable Dolly Parton. “There’s this incredible movement,” Kors said, wondering if it might be about “finding something to be proud of in Americana today.”
Hefty musing for a pre-fall collection. And happily so, because the collection looked great, a chicly indiscrete fusion of Western and Kors-ian tropes. For starters,

Michael Kors Collaborates With Artist David Downton for Special Capsule

THE ART OF THE SKETCH: Michael Kors has teamed with renowned fashion artist David Downton on a special capsule collection. The designs will be shown at the Michael Kors runway show at the Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center Wednesday at 10 a.m. The capsule will hit stores this fall.
While additional details weren’t divulged, it is believed that the illustrations will appear on handbags.
In 1966, Downton was commissioned to draw at the Paris couture by a Sunday supplement and since then his illustrated reports from the shows have appeared in such publications as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and The New York Times. His commercial client list includes Chanel, Dior, Tiffany & Co., Topshop, Joyce Hong Kong, Harrods, Estée Lauder and the V&A Museum. He has also produced portraits of some celebrities including Cate Blanchett, Dita Von Teese, Catherine Deneuve and Linda Evangelista.
“This is our first collaboration with an artist for Michael Kors Collection, and it is very personal. David captures people’s essence and style without feeling the need to draw every detail about them — it’s the magic of a great illustrator,” Kors said.

Michael Kors Marks World Food Day With Digital and Timepiece Initiatives

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Michael Kors is launching a new initiative to benefit the label’s Watch Hunger Stop campaign. In honor of World Food Day on Oct. 16, the label has devised a digital T-shirt campaign and watch collection with each purchase benefitting school meals. Beginning Oct. 1, shoppers can log on to watchhungerstop.com to create a digital T-shirt design that will solely live on the Web. For each digital T-shirt uploaded to the site, Michael Kors will donate 50 school meals. The company aims to reach 1 million donated meals by the end of October.
For those looking for a more tangible momento, the brand has also designed a limited-edition timepiece collection surrounding the initiative. The new model, called the Bradshaw 100, has been created in black and gold-tone iterations. Priced at $ 295, the watch style comes engraved with “Watch Hunger Stop” on its back. For each watch purchase, Michael Kors plans to donate $ 25 to Watch Hunger Stop’s partner, the United Nations World Food Programme.
Shoppers will be able to make donations to the WFP in Michael Kors stores worldwide in the month of October, as well.
The WFP named Kors a global ambassador against hunger in July. That same month, he

Model Takes Ill at Michael Kors, Delays Show

KORS DELAY: The Michael Kors show was delayed about 25 minutes because one of the models, named Ondria Hardin of DNA Models, became ill, and paramedics from New York-Presbyterian were called and took her away in a stretcher. She was treated outside the Spring Studios venue at 50 Varick Street for about 15 minutes with an oxygen mask, said one onlooker. A spokeswoman for Michael Kors said following the show, “She was unwell and cognizant. She got treatment immediately, and that’s why we didn’t start the show. The paramedics came. There was no point in taking a chance. She was with her agent. It’s a lot for these girls to endure.”
One of the dressers backstage said the scene was alarming when Ondria was taken away on a stretcher. Ondria was all dressed and ready to go, wearing a crimson silk georgette scarf dress.

Michael Kors Collection Resort 2016

Michael Kors hated geometry in high school. For resort he revisited the subject, finding a new affinity and far better results than his sophomore-year 68 average. Intentionally or otherwise, there was a bit of the math geek to his blazers — he’s bringing them back, baby — knife-pleated skirts and cropped pants. And when’s the last time you heard of a dickey (of the collar-only variety)? Throughout, he played black, white and camel off of “happy colors — acid green, aqua, geranium.”

Yet for all its girlish charm, this collection lost none of the typical Kors-ean chic, nor its luxury. His customer is a math geek who discovered some obscure algorithm that she developed into an Internet start-up that made her rich enough to commission Harry Potter-striped mufflers and hexagon intarsia coats in wildly indulgent mink. And Kors countered the structure of shantung and sturdy crepe with a lovely scarf-dressing story, including hexagon-print shirt looks with French cuffs left deliberately undone.

Accessories also got with the geometric program. Clutches, shoulder bags and chunky platforms were color-blocked with bravado. But ever the pragmatist, Kors knows that sometimes a mile-high shoe just won’t do. Thus, his flat, mannish slide. “I always love a shoe,”

Gigi Hadid’s CFDA Awards Jumpsuit Is Gilded Perfection By Michael Kors

It looks like Gigi Hadid was possibly inspired by her bestie Taylor Swift’s recent Elle magazine cover look.

The 20-year-old model made a jaw-dropping appearance at the CFDA Awards on Monday in New York City wearing a gold Michael Kors jumpsuit. Its gleaming pattern and flare leg opening accentuated Hadid’s statuesque physique. Beachy waves, sun-kissed makeup and a matching gold clutch rounded out her elaborate red carpet ensemble.

What do you think of Hadid’s metallic gold jumpsuit? Sound off in the comments section!
