~~~ Wildflowers have to be strong and resilient to bloom amid the rugged beauty of Wyoming – and so do the women. ~~ ”Melt your heart romance” — Old Book Barn Gazette  When fire ravages Wyoming land, fireweed is among the first plants to return, brightening a blighted area with the joy of its blooms. Small-town lawyer Taylor Anne Larsen faces the challenge of doing the same for the pain-ravaged heart and disbelieving soul of cowboy Cal Ruskoff. Armed with the same grace and grit as the wildflower fireweed, Taylor also has allies – a matchmaking friend, a Wyoming blizzard, high-octane mutual attraction, being snowbound, and a rescue dog who slips past Cal's defenses.  Cal might give in to passion temporarily, but from behind the wall he's built around his past and his secrets, he's certain Taylor is all that he can't let himself have. And he'll use all his weapons to keep her out.  “These characters — their dialogue, their fears, their complex personalities — are very real. As a reader, I couldn't help fall under Cal's spell — a good, troubled, mixed-up man who forces Taylor to confront some of her own demons, even as he refuses to face his own … There's a lot of subtle — and not so subtle — humor here, the love scenes are at once tender and sizzling, and the emotions and fears of both characters wrap themselves around the reader's heart and don't let go.” – 5* review ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Match Made in Wyoming delivers romance, humor and emotional impact in the second book in the contemporary western romance collection Wyoming Wildflowers from award-winning and USA Today bestselling author Patricia McLinn. Getting tired of your usual watch? Now you can trade it in for a brand-new Breitling. The esteemed Swiss watchmaker has partnered with Crown & Caliber, the online retailer which lets you buy and sell pre-owned luxury watches, to launch an online platform where you can trade in your luxury watch and receive credit towards the purchase of a Breitling timepiece. That makes Breitling the first major Swiss watchmaker to accept pre-owned watches for a new model. The platform is now live, and you can access it on the Breitling website.
“In the industry there was a lot of talk about the secondary market,” Thierry Prissert, Breitling USA President, told Men’s Journal. “We needed to embrace it in a way that satisfies our customers.”
With the launch of the platform, Breitling has entered into the booming pre-owned watch market—by some estimates, a $ 17-$ 20 billion industry—in a big way, although Crown & Caliber handles the process of appraising the timepieces. The companies first crossed paths at Baselworld, the watch and jewelry trade show, a few years ago, but began to work on the new platform in earnest starting last year.
For Prissert, working with an established partner like Crown & Caliber was the best way for Breitling to get into the secondary market. C&C already handles sales of many pre-owned Breitling watches and has a reputation for selling high-quality timepieces. But the company’s knowledge of watch sales was a big draw, too. Since its launch in 2013, C&C has processed over 40,000 transactions and built a massive database in the process, including not only how much certain watches sell for, but also how long they’re on the market.
“Virtually any watch that we see,” Hamilton Powell, CEO and Founder of Crown & Caliber, told Men’s Journal, “we will have historical sales pricing on.”
“That was the convincing factor,” Prissert said, adding that the partnership saved Breitling from having to figure out the pre-owned watch market from scratch. As any watch aficionado will tell you, it can be a difficult arena to navigate—shady sellers and fake watches abound. That makes established, legitimate retailers like C&C all the more valuable.
The new launch comes at an exciting time for Breitling. The company revamped its website last year and only recently began selling some of its watches online. The goal with these new initiatives is to give watch buyers more options in how they find and purchase a timepiece, Prissert said.
With trade-ins specifically, both Powell and Prissert view the new platform as a way to catch up with other industries that have long accepted trades to knock down the price of a new product. If you want to buy a new Mercedes, for example, you trade in your current ride and get a better deal. Now you can do the same with the watch sitting in your drawer.
“We wanted to be able to offer customers the same optionality that’s existed in other industries,” Powell says.
With trade-ins, Prissert also sees an opportunity to make Breitling more accessible for people who are looking to put something new on their wrist, but might balk at a several-thousand-dollar price tag.
“It’s also to open the brand to new people that would be very much helped by a good gift certificate credit amount,” he said.
Of course, you already have to be sitting on a pretty nice watch in order to really bring the price down. But if do you have a quality model, a trade-in is a good way to try out something new, and doing it through Breitling ensures a relatively seamless transaction.
For someone ready to upgrade, the process is simple enough. Head to Breitling’s trade-in page and choose your watch’s brand from a dropdown menu (the company currently accepts over 30 different brands). Then, fill out a form, upload some images of your timepiece, and submit it. The information goes to Crown & Caliber, where experts review the form and assess the value of your watch using the company’s database. Based on the condition of your ticker and how others like it have sold, the company generates a quote and replies to your submission in one business day.
If you accept it, you’ll get a shipping label to mail your watch to C&C’s processing facility in Atlanta, and once it’s received, you’ll get confirmation of the offer. From there, you can either have the company cut you a check for the value of the watch, or you can get a voucher towards the purchase of a new Breitling model.
Take note: There’s also a sweetener if you choose the voucher. According to Powell and Prissert, Breitling will add a premium on top of your watch’s quoted value if you opt for store credit. Although they wouldn’t provide specifics, Powell said it’s “a meaningful percentage,” of the quote. Try making that happen with your local Mercedes dealer.
With several new watches debuting this fall, now’s a great time to get your hands on a Breitling. Here are the details on our favorites.
Unveiled at Kelly Slater’s Surf Ranch in Lemoore, California, the Superocean Automatic 44 Outerknown is a collaboration between the watchmaker and Slater’s apparel company, Outerknown. It’s an update of Breitling’s classic Superocean dive watch, which was first released in 1957. It comes with a 44-millimeter stainless-steel case and a ratcheted unidirectional bezel—a key feature that allows divers to time their dives accurately. It has a green dial and the hands, numerals, and indexes have a luminescent coating for easy reading in low-light conditions. The launch also included a new Econyl strap made from recycled nylon that will work with any Breitling timepeice, and the strap comes in a range of colors for a rugged look that can match any outfit.
The new Avenger collection launched in September, and these watches are built to the highest standards of reliability and durability and come with some serious performance chops built-in. We like the Super Avenger Chronograph 48 Night Mission, which features a tough, shock-resistant 48-millimeter titanium case that’s designed for use even while wearing gloves. The blue dial’s large numerals are inspired by the stenciled numbers on aircraft carriers, and they’re coated with a luminescent film to make them easy to read no matter where you are. A blue leather strap secures this bold military-inspired watch to your wrist.
This watch is packed with aviation history. We’ll start with the name: It’s a reference to the de Havilland Mosquito, a legendary WWII-era British warplane made almost entirely from wood. Design-wise, the Aviator 8 is also a nod to the on-board clocks that Breitling designed for planes back in the 1930s and 1940s and the company’s famed Co-Pilot watch, which was beloved by aviators for its large, easy-to-read numerals. The watch is powered by a Caliber 01 movement made in-house at Breitling, and it comes with a brushed stainless-steel bezel over a handsome black dial with silver chronograph counters. The red and orange accents on the hands add a pop of color, and there’s some history behind them, too: The colors are inspired by the military roundels painted on Mosquitos during the war.
Rodarte is throwing a summer party with the Bangles’ Susanna Hoffs on Aug. 1 in Los Angeles.
The Eighties-themed concert bash is being held in collaboration with Made and Mastercard to celebrate a new capsule collection of “Radarte” pieces incorporating artwork by Los Angeles-based painter Mari Eastman, which will be sold at L.A.’s Fred Segal beginning Aug. 2. The event is expected to draw 300 guests, including friends of Kate and Laura Mulleavy, models, celebrities and fashion notables from the Endeavor agency roster. “We are so excited to make these T-shirts and sweatshirts featuring artwork by artist Mari Eastman. We are such fans of her body of work,” the Mulleavys said in a statement of the capsule, which will also incorporate blockchain technology developed by Mastercard.
Scott Eastwood is stepping into some new territory. After starring in big films like Pacific Rim: Uprising and The Fate of the Furious over the last couple years, the actor is launching a new style collection, Made Here, which will have products that are inspired by the American worker.
So what exactly is Made Here about? While you’ll have to wait to see, the upcoming new line will include shirts, boxers, socks, hats and other accessories for both men and women. The idea behind the brand is that everything will be made in the United States and also will “celebrate the American worker” through its designs. Eastwood has partnered with entrepreneur Dane Chapin for the new collection.
“For hundreds of years, ‘American-made’ has been synonymous with high quality,” said Eastwood in a press release. “It’s all the hard-working folks across the country that make our brand possible. I want to honor the iconic heritage of American manufacturing and let people know it’s very much alive and well. The essence of Made Here is really very simple: it’s to celebrate the excellence of the American worker.”
While Eastwood has been hard at work on launching Made Here, he hasn’t slowed down in his acting career. Eastwood has multiple projects coming up, including the Afghanistan war drama The Outpost with Orlando Bloom, and the crime thriller The Manuscript, where he’ll star alongside Oscar winner Jamie Foxx for director Nick Cassavettes.
While you wait for the Made Here launch, you can read up on Eastwood’s previous cover story, where he told us about the time he took a road trip through the Skeleton Coast in Namibia, the time he almost crashed in a helicopter on a snowboarding trip in the Canadian Rockies, and the time he was held down by a massive wave in Australia. Yeah, Eastwood knows how to have an adventure.
The collection is set to launch in August 2019 and customers can get a head start by signing up on the Made Here website to get 10-percent off on launch day. See more at the Made Here site.
You haven’t worn a Polo like this before: Today, Ralph Lauren is launching an all-new version of its iconic Polo shirt made entirely from recycled materials and dyed through an innovative process that uses no water. It’s called the Earth Polo, and it represents a fusion of Ralph Lauren’s heritage aesthetic with the company’s larger commitment to sustainability. It’s all a part of the fashion retailer’s bold plan to shrink the ecological impact of its apparel.
“Ralph Lauren will commit to removing at least 170 million bottles from landfills and oceans by 2025,” David Lauren, Ralph Lauren’s chief innovation officer, said in a press release. “Plastic waste is a major issue threatening the environment—we want to be part of the solution.”
The fashion industry has a notoriously large carbon footprint, but the Earth Polo uses two innovative techniques to combat the harmful ecological effects of clothing production. First, the shirt is made from thread derived entirely from plastic bottles, and each shirt contains about 12 bottles’ worth of recycled plastic on average. In addition to using recycled materials, the shirt also addresses another glaring ecological issue in clothing production: dyeing fabrics. According to analysis from Smithsonian, one T-shirt can average out to 120 liters of water used and 0.01 kilograms of carbon dioxide emitted per wear—and that’s just from the dyeing process alone. To lessen the impact of the Earth Polo, Ralph Lauren has introduced an innovative dyeing process that eliminates water use altogether.
In the past, Ralph Lauren has used the Polo to support other key causes, such as global disaster relief and the Pink Pony Fund for cancer care. This time around, the company partnered with First Mile, an organization that works with entrepreneurs in low-income communities to collect plastic bottles. Those bottles are then recycled and processed into high-quality yarn, which in turn becomes the fabric used in the Earth Polo.
Twelve years ago, he drove away with my heart in his hands. I’ve moved on since then. Or so I thought.  Growing up in a small town, there weren’t too many options when it came to friends. But, even in a sea of a million, I’d always choose Jake Jameson.  I felt safe with him. Safe with my secrets, my dreams and eventually — my heart. I thought we’d have forever together. That was a long time ago.  I thought I’d forgotten those piercing blue eyes and the sound of his laugh. I tried to obliterate the memory of his touch from my mind. But, one single glance, as he stands at my door, twelve years later, and I’m suddenly transported back to a simpler time when love was easy, and my heart was whole. The problem?  I’m marrying his best friend.
After dropping the pregnancy bombshell didn’t get the reaction she wanted from the rapper, she went to New York police and claimed Drake raped her during their one-night stand. She also continued to demand millions of dollars from the rapper.
At the time, he sued for civil extortion, emotional distress, fraud, defamation and abuse of process.
BERLIN — Hugo Boss is keeping things close to home with its latest capsule collection: Boss “Made in Germany.”
While the Metzingen-based giant is more normally inclined to emphasize its global expertise, Boss is now openly celebrating its heritage with a 12-piece capsule for men and women designed and manufactured in Germany.
“Made in Germany” is not exactly new for Boss, pointed out chief brand officer Ingo Wilts. The brand’s full canvas suits are all produced in Boss headquarters. “But we’re proud to be the biggest premium fashion-maker in Germany, and thought it would be great to do something German and celebrate our heritage.”
He added, “We also know that whenever we go outside Germany, in France or Asia, for example, they really appreciate [articles] made in Germany. Though it was a big effort to find someone who makes knits and leathers here.” The lion’s share of the collection, which has a natty tailored slant, was manufactured at Boss headquarters in Metzingen.
Built on the brand’s tailoring DNA and working with Italian fabrics exclusively developed for Boss, the collection features six revamped classics each for men and women. Men have their pick of a double-breasted coat and blouson in a bonded wool check, a burgundy
The denim jacket is an American classic, and its effortless versatility makes it an obvious essential; an anchor piece thatâs key to building the complete menâs wardrobe. Initially created in the late 1800s California as workersâ wear, the jean jacket rose as an icon of cowboy culture in the American West, then showed up in the 20th century on the backs of Beat poets, rebel rockers and movie stars. In 1967, Levis launched its iconic trucker jacket, and over the last 50 years it has become an paradigm of American style.
In a recent press conference for the new movie Steve Jobs, Michael Fassbender, who plays the late Apple CEO, jokingly said he “studied Ashton Kutcher” to prepare for the role. Fassbender was referencing that other Steve Jobs movie, which came out in 2013 and imagined Kutcher as the visionary in the black turtleneck. These dueling films are just the latest instance of two different portrayals of the same subject (after all, Hollywood does love to recycle material). Here, seven other double biopics.
Listen up, all you single ladies (and those about to put a ring on it): Savannah Miller has just launched a bridal collection for Stone Fox Bride. Which means if you’re not exactly the tulle-ball-gown-at-the-country-club-type bride, your dreams of silk, ease, and everlasting chic are now that much closer to becoming a reality.
Miller is no stranger to weddings or, for that matter, designing an easy-yet-flattering shape. Having established with equally chic sister Sienna (yes, thatSienna Miller, patient zero of the mid-’00s boho street style movement; star of screens big and small) the contemporary line Twenty8Twelve, she went on to do a solo collection of elevated basics. This new collaboration is her official entrée into wedding dresses, though it’s worth noting that she’s not exactly a novice—she did design her own. Seen it? Google “Savannah Miller wedding dress” and you’ll find an image of her on an English moor in procession with an unspeakably photogenic family, clad in a silk velvet gown with a hood (be still, all your bride-to-be hearts out there!). This same image was espied by one Molly Guy of Stone Fox Bride, who did what you do with all visual depictions of one’s own personal #goals—she Instagrammed it. Miller double-tapped, DMs were exchanged, and the rest is very modern history. “We started that conversation about 18 months ago, and started developing the collection in April this year,” Miller told Vogue.com over the phone, during a chat that ranged from the topic of her own wedding to the larger implications of modern love (more about that in a minute).
Though her wedding dress is beautiful in any setting, it makes even more sense in her personal context—take note, autumn knot-tie-ers. “I had this sort of merry, abundant, feasty type of wedding, with banquet tables heaving with plums and grapes and apples, and candelabra with wax drippings on the tables. Reindeer skins over the benches—very much a medieval banquet vibe,” says Miller. It may sound extravagant, but just look how wholly at ease she looks doing it. “My main thing is the bride feeling comfortable and great on her wedding day and having that effortless elegance,” Miller says, and she invoked that old style truism of clothes not wearing the person, the person wearing the clothes—one that’s never more axiomatic than upon one’s nuptials.
One particular design from the new collaboration, a silky style with lace sleeves, was inspired by a brushed cotton caftan Miller wore to her civil service, with the fabrication lightened up and the lacy bits added for a little sex appeal. What did stick around: the total comfort of the thing. “It’s an incredibly flattering line—to have the gathering in the center front means that the woman can be relaxed and comfortable, and it really draws the waist in,” Miller notes.
And that silk and velvet hooded cloak number that played such a large role in her life can be yours, too—she’s made an homage to her own much-Pinterest-pinned wedding dress (and perhaps the seminal piece in the whole collection) for Stone Fox Bride, with whose owner she has total, natural synergy. “Really, [Molly Guy and I] are very similar in our approach to the way things should look, and we just get on really well—she’s like a sister now,” says Miller. “I was originally drawn to Stone Fox Bride because the aesthetic felt very much at one with my own. I’ve always dreamed of making wedding dresses, and this is absolutely how I imagined they’d be, and the setting—it’s a perfect fit for me.”
Plus, Miller brings an undeniably British edge in all the right places—a combination of out-in-the-country charm and to-the-manner-born splendor. One’s thoughts often turn more continental (ahem, look to the French Girls Do It Better school of thought) when looking for effortless, everyday chic, but where bridal ease and casual sybaritism are involved, the Brits do it best (think: Kate Moss in John Galliano). “I think that whimsical bohemian thing, and the way English people do it, is something [Stone Fox Bride] has always aspired to, because of the Old World-y and Guinevere vibe—it’s all very English,” says Miller. “So it has brought something new, but it isn’t a radical departure.” But there’s no trace of Renaissance fair here. Miller and Guy shared more contemporary common inspiration in the ’70s and early ’20s, too, so it’s not all cone hats and corsets. “Our points of reference really are the same,” explains Miller, “our interpretations of them will obviously be different.”
For Miller, wedding chic and interpersonal honesty go hand-in-jewel-topped-hand: “You have these delusions as children of marriage and the wedding day, and that it’s about the dress and flowers and everything. I think as humans in relationships, these days everything is a lot more honest. I think the more honest we can all be every day, the better. And I think those weddings where people are themselves but a little polished—there’s something so beautiful about the rawness of that. And I really love the honestly of that kind of experience when I go to a wedding and it’s real, and these people have been through it and they’re committing to each other. It’s a really interesting time in the world generally, not just from a fashion perspective. Relationships are much more a growing process rather than this perfect cutout picture of wedded bliss.” Hear that, Pinterest? Gone are the days of the bride having always to adopt the virginal princess stance. These wedding dresses are for the woman in full bloom, in the prime of her adulthood, which, let’s face it, comes a good deal later.
And as to the future of the Savannah Miller–Stone Fox Bride partnership? If you don’t have any nuptials on the horizon (or even serious prospects) just yet and feel markedly silly earmarking a dress in advance, don’t worry: “We’re already plotting and scheming about our next moves,” Miller reassures. “There will be more additions soon.”
Eminem has been getting millions of fan mail letters since he first broke onto the scene in 1999 and it’s damn near impossible for him to respond to all of them; so he usually doesn’t. But when he does give a fan the time of day, it’s a safe bet it was one he knew it could do immense good.
Which is exactly what 10-year-old Teejay Stainer is experiencing right about now. The little trooper was born without a calf bone in his right leg and eventually had his leg amputated when he was just 14-months-old. During his short time on Earth, he reportedly credited Eminem with making him feel “brave” about the challenges life has presented him. Today, he regularly does everything you’d expect a 10-year-old boy to do which is running, jumping, playing basketball and climbing trees.
When Teejay and his family reached out to his favorite rap star online, even under the special circumstances, it was a bit of longshot. Yet lo and behold, Slim Shady received the message loud and clear and sent out an autographed copy of his 2010 comeback album, Recovery which bore the caption: “To Teejay, I saw your pic and read your message! Thanks for the support!”
Teejay told the Daily Echo he feels he received that CD in particular because of “sent me that album in particular because of the recovery that I’ve made.”
Above all, Teejay’s mother Georgina, approves Eminem’s lyrical gems above any of the other choice words that are prevalent in his music.
Check out little Teejay’s cherished gift down below. In the meantime, the legendary MC will be headlining Lollapalooza 2016 in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.
