OP’s Watching: T.I. Named In Fed Cryptocurrency Investigation, Settles For $75K

The Feds have their eye on a cryptocurrency scheme that T.I. got inadvertently wrapped up in, allegedly. The Atlanta rapper has been fined $ 75,000 for his involvement.

Reuters reports that on Friday (Sept. 11), T.I., born Clifford Harris, agreed to pay $ 75,000 to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to settle charges that he broke securities laws by selling fraudulent crypto-currency investments.

The “You Don’t Know Me” rapper and four associates who were involved in companies called FLiK and CoinSpark, which offered up cryptocurrency that Tip promoted. According to the SEC, back in 2017, T.I. was pushing “FLiK tokens” on his social media accounts while claiming he was FLiK co-owner—when he actually was not.

Per the settlement, T.I. didn’t confirm nor deny being involved in any sort of scam. Per his lawyer, T.I. expressed remorse at doing business with film producer Ryan Felton, who reportedly has a controlling stake in the aforementioned companies, and is the alleged ringleader.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Felton allegedly made some lavish purchases, included $ 1 million home and a Ferrari, with the money he finessed out of investors. While the others involved have agreed to settle the charges, Felton is reportedly still fighting the case, for now.

Eyebrows may raise because Tip’s lawyer, Henry E. Mazurek, says his client “fully cooperated” with the SEC after he claims to have discovered that Felton’s plot was suspect and stating that he never received a dime from him.

But hey, T.I. is a civilian, you think he’s going he can just ignore the Feds?

Donald Glover Settles With Glassnote Records Over Royalties Issue

Childish Gambino closes out Lovebox 2018

Source: WENN.com / WENN

Donald Glover and his former label Glassnote Records were embroiled in a legal tussle over unpaid royalties regarding music streaming. The artist also known as Childish Gambino and the label have settled their legal differences, ending a battle that began early last year.

Variety
reports:

Glover, under his stage name Childish Gambino, release three albums on the label from 2011 to 2017, including the Grammy-winning “Awaken, My Love!” In July, Glassnote went to court, alleging that Glover was trying to claim 100% of streaming royalties from SoundExchange. SoundExchange pays for so-called “non-interactive digital performance royalties” — monies paid by such streaming services as Pandora, Spotify, SiriusXM and other webcasters which are considered digital radio.

Glassnote contended it was owed 50%, and that Glover and featured artists and producers were due the remaining half. Glover filed a counterclaim in September, alleging that Glassnote had underpaid various royalties and charged inappropriate expenses.

In a stipulation filed on Friday in the Southern District of New York, both sides agree to drop their suits. Both sides agreed to pay their own attorneys’ fees, but other terms were not disclosed.

The outlet adds that Glassnote Records says it paid Glover $ 8 million over the duration of his contract with another $ 2 million coming to him.

Chris Brown Settles 2016 Assault Case

Chris Brown has decided to settle the lawsuit filed against him by Liziane Guiterrez in February of 2016.

TMZ is reporting that the “Beautiful People” singer chose to pay off Guiterrez for the alleged attack that took place at a Las Vegas hotel last year.

According to Liziane Gutierrez, she attended a private party at a Palms Hotel suite that Chris Brown was hosting and after she tried to snap a picture of him with her phone, Brown went off and punched her in the eye.

Even though the embattled singer was never charged with a crime and denied the allegations saying Guiterrez was “too ugly” to have even been allowed into one of his soirees, ultimately a settlement was reached and Brown can now move on from this situation.

As far as the amount of money that Guiterrez walked away with, no solid number has been announced. Originally she was seeking $ 70,000 but sources say she got “substantially less” than that.

Whether or not Chris was truly guilty of the charges is anyone’s guess, but Chris’ history of laying hands on women certainly didn’t help his cause. Hopefully, this will be a learning experience for CB and can finally get his priorities in life straight.

Jay Z Settles Down Out Of Pocket Paparazzo Peacefully [VIDEO]

When it comes to out of pocket paparazzi, Beyoncé is covered by her bodyguard and her husband. Jay Z helped cool down a possibly volatile situation with a photographer and Bey’s hired muscle, instead of having to go back to being Brooklyn Hova himself.

Reports TMZ:

Jay Z took his “peace” t-shirt very literally Monday in Manhattan … shedding his bodyguard’s protection to go all Gandhi and squash some beef that was bubbling up way too close to Beyonce

Jay and Bey were walking out of a building when one of their long-time bodyguards swiped at a pap to move him back. Some back and forth barking started, and that’s when Jay sprung into Zen action.

You gotta see how he calmly diffused the situation … allowing Bey to slip by unscathed.

Once again, let us quote a Jay Z lyric: “Now all, I, need is a high-priced lawyer, cause it’s foul ways nowadays everybody saw you/And they coming to court too, I thought you knew/Can’t even steal on a ni**a muhfu*kas’ll sue.”

Gotta keep those lawyer fees down.
