Joel and Ethan Coen’s career-long darkly comic road trip through misfit America began with this razor-sharp, hard-boiled neonoir set somewhere in Texas, where a sleazy bar owner sets off a torrent of violence with one murderous thought. Actor M. Emmet Walsh looms over the proceedings as a slippery private eye with a yellow suit, a cowboy hat, and no moral compass, and Frances McDormand’s cunning debut performance set her on the road to stardom. The tight scripting and inventive style that have marked the Coens’ work for decades are all here in their first film, in which cinematographer Barry Sonnenfeld abandons the black-and-white chiaroscuro of classic noir for neon signs and jukebox colors that combine with Carter Burwell’s haunting score to lurid and thrilling effect. Blending elements from pulp fiction and low-budget horror flicks, Blood Simple reinvented the film noir for a new generation, marking the arrival of a filmmaking ensemble that would transform the American independent cinema scene.

Terrelle Pryor Charged With Simple Assault, Girlfriend Charged With Attempted Criminal Homicide

NFL: JUN 03 Jacksonville Jaguars OTA

Source: Icon Sportswire / Getty

New details are emerging stemming from the stabbing incident regarding NFL free agent Terrelle Pryor, including the involvement of another unnamed woman. Pryor and his girlfriend Shalaya Briston were both slapped with charges, with Pryor still said to be recovering from his wounds.

Local outlet WXPI reports:

Pryor, 30, reportedly underwent surgery after a violent dispute inside his Heinz Lofts apartment. A woman — identified as Shalaya Briston, 24 — was also injured.

Briston and Pryor were both arrested. Briston is being charged with criminal attempt homicide and aggravated assault, while Pryor is facing charges of simple assault.

According to the police criminal complaint, officers were initially called to the Heinz Lofts apartments around 4:15 a.m. Saturday for a domestic disturbance call.

When police arrived, they found a trail of blood leading from Pryor’s apartment to the elevator and across the garage to his Mercedes Benz. Inside Pryor’s car, police said detectives found a semi-automatic Glock pistol with a flashlight on the front passenger seat.

As the investigation rolls out, the outlet added that police carted out a number of weapons from the apartment Pryor and Briston shared.

It has also come out that one of the two women that accompanied Briston to the hospital after the reported stabbing was allegedly heard saying into a smart device, “She was just defending herself and had to do it. The only reason I’m here was to make sure that he didn’t die. We should have just let him die.:

Witnesses say that Pryor and Briston maintained a tense relationship despite living together at the lofts. Neither Pryor nor Briston has offered a public statement regarding the incident.

WhenHub SAFT (Simple Agreement for Future Tokens)

Today might be one of the biggest days of my life, and it will be impossible to explain why that is so unless you know at least a little bit about blockchain, dAPPS, cryptocurrencies, Ethereum, and the legal distinction between a Simple Agreement for Future Tokens (SAFT) and an ICO.

If those words look unfamiliar, one of the biggest technical revolutions the world has ever known is sneaking up on you. The folks in Silicon Valley — who live about three years in the future compared to the rest of the country — can’t stop talking about this topic. The smartest people in the Valley tell me blockchain will change nearly everything, and already is. It’s like “the Internet” before anyone had heard of the Internet. That’s how big it is.

One small example is that startups are raising funds by creating and selling their own digital “tokens” or “coins,” using blockchain technology, that serve as the payment mechanisms within their products. The tokens have an advantage over regular money in part because you can program simple rules for them using distributed apps, or dAPPS, to add function to your product. And blockchain brings its own set of advantages I’ll mention below.

In the case of WhenHub, a dAPP will trigger an automatic payment when certain conditions are met. The effect is to eliminate billing and invoicing efforts for micro-contracts while creating a distributed record of each transaction that is impervious to manipulation.

image

My example doesn’t get at the full power of blockchain. It’s just one of the many things it can do.

The reason people buy these digital tokens from startups is that they hope the value will rise as the startup adds customers. The tokens are artificially limited in quantity, so the value of each token increases with demand. Customers of the startup won’t notice the rise in token value because prices within the product are pegged to nominal “real money” value. In other words, if one token is worth a dollar today, but worth ten dollars tomorrow, the startup auto-adjusts the price within the product to ten-percent of a token. The customer always pays the same “real money” price even as token values rise.

Tokens can easily be exchanged for Bitcoins or cash on websites that do that sort of thing. See Bitcoin Exchanges.

The process of creating digital tokens to raise funds is called an ICO (initial coin offering) when you do it the wild-west unregulated way. If you lawyer-up in advance, jumping through lots of (expensive) hoops to minimize future regulatory risks, your lawyers will tell you to call it a Simple Agreement for Future Tokens (SAFT). A SAFT is a contract with the startup to issue you tokens if and when it is able to launch a network in which the token has utility value. That’s what WhenHub is announcing today.

To be clear, ICOs and SAFTs are not investments, nor do they give the buyer equity in the startup. But they do provide an easy way — compared to angel investing — to share in whatever success the startup experiences. With SAFTs and ICOs the startup describes its plans in a white paper so any potential token buyers can evaluate the risks. WhenHub already has several products on the market, with more coming soon, but we describe in our white paper a proposed new product that is based on our existing scheduling platform and takes advantage of blockchain. The proposed product (WhenHub Interface) is the one that will use digital tokens.

If you are new to this field, I hope I just gave you a toe-hold for understanding it. And I would be delighted if you share this post with friends.

Our tokens are only available in Australia, Canada, European Economic Area, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Japan, Russian Federation, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States (excluding New York State). If you are in the United States, you need to be an Accredited Investor (meaning kinda rich) to participate. Outside the United States, regulatory restrictions are lower.

Our Pre-sale is now in progress and our Public Sale starts on Nov. 10, 2017. During the Pre-sale, the minimum purchase amount is $ 50,000 and participants get an Early Bird bonus of 30%. For the Public Sale the minimum amount is $ 250, and the the Early Bird discount starts at 20% and decreases to none in two weeks.

Here’s the executive summary from our white paper. A link to the full paper is at the end.

Executive Summary

WhenHub proposes to build a mobile app for connecting
consumers to experts of all kinds via two-way video
streams, text, audio, or in person. The app will be part
of a larger service ecosystem called the WhenHub
Interface Network (WIN) (Patent Pending).

The service will use dAPPS (distributed apps) running
on the Ethereum blockchain to create secure micro-contracts
– that can be as short as 15 minutes – as well
as to provide frictionless billing and payment service. At
the end of each micro-contract, payment in the form of
WHEN Tokens will be automatically transferred to the
expert. No paperwork or billing is involved.

Users buy WHEN Tokens using a credit card or with
Bitcoins at an online exchange via the WhenHub
Interface app. The tokens are used within the app to pay
experts for their time.

For privacy, your phone number and address are not
shared with experts.

Our partners will provide verification services on
participating experts to give consumers confidence.

No international billing and currency issues when WHEN
Tokens are involved.

Pricing for experts can be fixed or auction-based.

In the gig economy, think of this product as a “long tail”
market for expert advice. Experts of all kinds can display
their availability whenever they like, for as short a window
as 15 minutes.

The WhenHub Interface app will use the existing
commercial WhenHub API for scheduling and geofencing
features.

WhenSense is our proposed technology for allowing
third-party sites to host ads about our participating
experts’ availability and share in the income from
completed contracts. Site owners paste our HTML code
into their site to participate.

WHEN Tokens are not an investment vehicle, but
because they will be artificially limited in quantity, their
value is expected to fluctuate based on customer
demand for the WhenHub Interface app.

WHEN Tokens are now available for public purchase via
a formal offering. Visit this page for details of the
offering.

Here’s a simple and a quick way to build attraction with a woman or a girl, yet many guys overlook this when they are looking to get the woman or girl they like attracted to them. 5 Simple Ways To Make Your Hands Look Younger

While we’re busy applying various anti-aging creams to our faces and running to the colorist to cover our grays, we often forget the body part that typically reveals our age first: our hands.

Even A-list actresses like Julianne Moore and Cate Blanchett have shied away from the popular “mani-cam” at awards shows, which zooms in on the stars’ nail designs. Moore called it “humiliating.”

Here are some simple ways you can turn back the clock on your hands and deal with common aging issues like dryness and age spots.

1. Wear gloves.

Washing the dishes every night can dry out your skin, with the hot water and abrasive dish soaps stripping away the natural oils in your skin, causing it to become parched and even cracked. The perfumes in dish soaps can also irritate your skin and exacerbate conditions like eczema. Help keep the moisture in your skin by wearing dishwashing gloves every time you clear out the sink — or opt to use the dishwasher!

2. Moisturize like your life depends on it.

Thanks to frequent washing, our hands get the moisture sapped out of them more than pretty much any other area of our body — so they definitely deserve a little more TLC. Using lotions and creams will help lock in the moisture and help your hands look younger by plumping up the skin. Dermatologists recommend using treatments which include ingredients like shea butter, olive oil, vitamin E and macadamia nut oil. Applying these to slightly damp skin helps them absorb better, so make sure to keep a jar of cream handy on your bathroom sink to use after showers or hand-washing.

And when you’re using treatments and creams on your face, it doesn’t hurt to apply some to your hands too – especially if they are products which boost collagen production, to help plump up the thin skin on the backs of your hands. Just make sure the products don’t cause peeling or increased sensitivity to sunlight.

3. Use a flattering polish.

While things like black polish or nail art might be the hottest trends right now, they could just look severe and further age mature hands. But the right shade could help spruce up your hands and draw attention away from age spots or visible veins. Style experts recommend steering away from fads like glitter, overly long nails, or square shapes.

While you may be tempted to use nude polishes so that you don’t draw attention to your hands, a pop of color can actually help your hands look younger. Orange-based reds are a popular pick, compared with blue-based reds (which can make your veins stand out).  If you’re afraid of going bright, just keep your nails short and well-shaped and the color will still look sophisticated.

And if you do choose to opt for nudes, celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann says it’s all about choosing a shade with the right undertone so your skin doesn’t look gray and sallow.

4. Wear sunscreen.

Sun spots can be a true giveaway of your age. They develop over time, after years of exposure to the sun’s UV rays or even tanning beds. You can talk to your dermatologist about topical creams like hydroquinone, which helps bleach the pigment, or even some laser therapies which destroy pigment-producing cells.

But as with everything, prevention really is the best cure, no matter how old you are. Prevent more age spots from appearing by applying sunscreen daily. Yes, we know, the first thing you want to do after applying sunscreen to the rest of your body is to wash your hands. Instead, resist the urge and slather the reamining cream onto the backs of your hands, which need the protection most. (The palms of your hands have a layer of dead skin cells which help protect against UV rays.) And make sure to reapply after hand-washing.

5. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate.

Dead skin cells can not only make your skin look flaky and dull, they can also keep treatments from sinking in. As with your face, make sure you use a gentle exfoliator  — nothing too abrasive, because it can scratch the surface of your skin. You can even make your own treatment at home by using a teaspoon of sugar combined with a hydrating oil, like coconut oil.

Artist’s Illustrations Capture The Simple Beauty Of Everyday Love

For the past five years, artist Nidhi Chanani has been working on a series of illustrations that show the small, ordinary moments that make up a romantic relationship.

The collection, aptly titled “Everyday Love,” serves as a reminder that love is about more than grand gestures and big milestones.

“Every day has moments of love and it’s easy to forget to pause and appreciate them,” she told The Huffington Post. “Each piece I create is inspired by a moment with my husband, a dream we discuss or a memory of ours.”

(Story continues after photos)

“My work is drawn from my perspective,” Chanani added. “I’m a brown woman in love with a white man. I also draw gay couples. I make an effort to show the love of mixed race couples and diverse relationships.”

Check out some of the small-but-sweet moments in the illustrations below. To see more of Chanani’s work, visit her website

Real and Simple No. 3: Answers to Your Most Basic Etiquette Questions

Number three on my list of most-asked etiquette questions includes both business and social quandaries, with answers to help you move gracefully through your day.

When applying for a job, is it okay to ask about salary range? As a job candidate, you are within your rights to ask about salary range. It’s not okay to ask how you measure up against other candidates.

When out to lunch on a job interview, is it okay to order a sandwich? Job interview food can be tricky. It’s okay to order a sandwich, but steer clear of spaghetti. No one wants red sauce on his or her white shirt. The best choice would be grilled meat or fish.

Is it okay to serve liqueurs during lunch? Liqueurs are not served with lunch unless the event is a formal diplomatic affair.

Should children be admitted to live theatre? Of course children are meant to attend theater staged expressly for them, but as a general rule they should not attend live theatre for adults; they are simply too fidgety and can disturb other patrons.

Do you have to RSVP when you cannot attend an event? It’s always courteous to respond, whether the answer is yes or no.

In the English style of service, is the food presented on a platter then plated at a nearby table? This style of service is Russian. The English style is when food is presented on platters and you serve yourself (see Downton Abbey).

To engage in small talk, do you only need to read the headlines of a newspaper? A good rule is to know a little about a lot of things. Read anything and everything, not just the headlines. And don’t forget the sports section!

When setting the table with place cards, should you add the person’s honorific? You may add Dr., as in Dr. Samuel Johnson, but not academic degrees, as in Samuel Johnson, Ph.D.

After listening to a speaker, is it okay to ask questions? Most speakers appreciate an audience interested enough to ask questions. If you are responding to something the speaker said, repeat the remark before you ask your question.

When taking a telephone message, should you always ask a person why he or she is calling? No, the reason for the call should not be asked. The person answering the phone should simply ask the caller’s name, repeat and confirm the message, and ask how the call can be returned.

The Simple Change I Made to Get Through My Divorce

I was the only one in my Child Impact Program that had finalized their divorce. As we went around the room introducing ourselves and giving our “brief” bio, I realized how lucky I was. Almost everyone, once they started talking, was desperate to tell their story and be heard. When my turn came, I was cheerful and brief. It turns out I had the class record for the fastest split. We filed in December and were done by the end of March. It could have been sooner but I wasn’t expecting it to be that easy so I picked a later date. “How did you do it?” everyone asked.

First, in a way, I was lucky. Even though we have two children, we don’t have a great deal of money or possessions. There simply weren’t any assets to fight over. I had met with a lawyer well in advance and knew what I could ask for. The law was clear on child support and the rest wasn’t worth arguing over.

Second, this was his second divorce involving children and since he had the same job, the visitation would be the same as before. We took that as a given.

Third, I was ready financially, emotionally, and physically. I had all my ducks in a row, refused to take any bait for an argument, and had also apologized to my ex-husband for any pain I may have caused. My support systems were in place and I had time marked out time to exercise and meditate so I could work through the inherent stress that this kind of life change brings.

But the best thing I did, which I shared with my class, didn’t cost any money, time, or grief. I simply changed my husband’s name in my contact list to “Co-Parent.” It’s the new politically correct term for your ex. Brilliant! I learned this early on in January from a recently divorced friend who told me what to expect from the Child Impact Program. It makes so much sense. From that point on it became all about the children. There was a complete shift in the dynamic of the relationship. Our weekly meetings became less emotional, the tone changed, and the focus was clear.

Now, a year after my divorce, whenever the name “Co-Parent” pops up on my phone, I’m reminded that it isn’t about me. My new role in the relationship is to communicate (as clearly as possible) what is needed for the children. Any emotion I might have is secondary and for the most part behind me. And most importantly, does not enter the conversation. The reach of that simple switch also goes beyond the name I see on my phone. When I reference him in conversation as “my co-parent,” I can speak respectfully on behalf of my children about their father. The negative connotation of “my ex, their dad” is taken out of the equation. When I told everyone in my Child Impact class what my “secret” was, several people pulled out their phones to make the change. The instructor said she was going to add that tip to her discussion on co-parenting.

A Simple Way To Know When It’s OK To Ask A Woman If She’s Pregnant

Mom Carrie Saum was fed up with people assuming her “squishy” belly was a “baby bump,” so she made a helpful video and flowchart to let people know when it’s OK to ask a woman if she’s pregnant.

According to Saum, there are only two scenarios when it’s appropriate: If she tells you she’s pregnant and you respond, “Really? What? You’re pregnant?” or if you’re in the room where she is giving birth and see the baby crowning or witness the C-section taking place.

“The bottom line here is that women’s bodies are not your business,” the mom explains, adding, “If a woman wants you to know, she’ll tell you.”

Real and Simple No. 1: Answers to Your Most Basic Etiquette Questions

Oprah may have her list of favorite things, but I have my list of “most asked” etiquette questions. If you want to be in the know, or simply want to know the right thing to say or do in different situations, life just got that much easier.

• If I am at at a private home and I break something, should I offer to replace it? Accidents at parties are common. If you break something, it’s basic etiquette to offer to replace the item, even though breakage is considered to be a price of home entertaining. The guest is ultimately not responsible.

When in a synagogue, am I required to wear a yamaka if I am not Jewish? Even non-Jewish men are required to wear a yamaka (a skullcap, also known as a yarmulke or a kippah) at a Jewish ceremony. Women may or may not be asked to wear one. But only Jewish men wear a tallit (a prayer shawl).

Is it okay to eat berries with my fingers? Berries are eaten with a spoon if served without stems. Berries with stems, such as strawberries, may be eaten with the fingers.

If someone accidentally uses your bread plate at a dinner, should you ask the waiter for another one? Don’t ask for another plate, as this will crowd the table. The easiest solution is to use the rim of your dinner plate.
• How many times is it appropriate to go back and forth with an email for business? Three times is the rule; then pick up the telephone.

• Is it okay to attend a Catholic funeral if I am not Catholic? Yes. Non-Catholics may attend Catholic funerals and other Masses, although they may not receive Communion.

Is it okay to take my seat if I arrive late to a talk or lecture? If you can slip in quietly, do so; otherwise, stand in the back of the room until the presentation is done.

If an employee issue arises, should I handle it myself or ask a higher authority for help? Never attempt to go to a higher authority unless you cannot take care of the problem first yourself.

How should I introduce my boss to a client? The rule is to say the most important person’s name first. In business, the client is considered the most important person, even though your boss is your superior. Simply say something along the lines of “Mr. Client, I’d like to introduce Mr. Boss, my manager. Mr. Boss, this is Mr. Client, our new client.” It doesn’t matter if the client is younger than your boss or if your boss is male or female; always introduce the client first.

Salma Hayek On The Simple First Step Toward Ending Hollywood’s Woman Problem

Salma Hayek has some awesome ideas about how to break down Hollywood sexism.

In a May 17 interview for The Hollywood Reporter’s Women In Motion talks, Salma Hayek and co-speaker Matthias Schoenaerts discussed sexism in Hollywood, and the many different ways women are chipping away at it.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Janice Minn kicked off the discussion by asking how Hollywood can get men involved in creating more spaces for women in the film industry.

Hayek had one suggestion: “There’s a very simple answer and really a very simple solution,” she said. “You get [men] involved the same way that you get men involved in anything and the only way you can inspire them: money.”

The 48-year-old actress told the story of when she was trying to get “Ugly Betty” on air and everyone rejected her pitch. As the executive producer of the TV show, Hayek realized the only way to get the show on-air was to “try to prove our power as a consumer.”

“I was trying to do a telenovela where the leading role was a girl that was not pretty… that had a new visual proposition,” Hayek said. Knowing the networks were underestimating the value of a one-hour comedy about a Latina woman, Hayek pointed advertisers and producers to statistics on how large the Latino population is in the U.S. — and their proportion of television audiences. “Ugly Betty” was on the air in no time.

“Every time you try to bring something new, they run for their lives,” Hayek said. “But once they saw the money, we got on the air immediately!”

The actress also described how demonstrating the power of female consumers can be an effective approach to promoting equality, telling Minn, “We look at the statistics as victims… We have to come in a position of power. It’s not like, ‘Oh you haven’t noticed us!’ No, it’s like, ‘You don’t know what you’re missing.’ And when they know that what they’re missing is money, they’ll jump in that boat at speed light.”

“They are forgetting that there is this X generation of smart women that have a huge power of economical power,” she said. “We are successful, we work, we make our own money and we are a very strong consumer.”

Hayek pointed out another sexist dilemma many women have to deal with on set: that leading actors often have a say in who gets cast in the leading female role. “Already they don’t pay us the same!” she said. “It should be the director’s choice, not the actor’s choice. The fact that he has a say who he gets to kiss or not — I find that very sexist.” Preach.

Schoenaerts weighed in later, telling Minn that stories about women have great potential to inspire and also — to make money. “Within the industry we don’t seem to see [the value of women] and we don’t seem to translate it onto the stories we tell, he said. “And there’s an enormous beauty and depth to what the female represents and what she embodies in all her dimensions. I think there’s an enormous potential for beautiful stories that eventually might make money.”

Simple Minds Celebrates The 30th Anniversary Of ‘The Breakfast Club’ At Billboard Music Awards

Thirty years ago, while cooped up in Saturday morning detention, a group of teens learned that people categorize one another in certain ways, and discovered that each one of them is a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal.

Earlier this year “The Breakfast Club” celebrated its 30th anniversary and at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night, the film’s star Molly Ringwald introduced the band Simple Minds to perform their 1985 hit song “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” which plays in both the opening credits and final scene of the movie.

The band got the crowd singing along to the 80s hit and it looked like Ringwald, who joked about wanting to be in Taylor Swift’s club, got her wish:

Five Seemingly Simple Tips for Fostering a (Sometimes) Positive Co-Parenting Relationship

Co-parenting is hard. There is just no other way to describe it. Raising a child is difficult… and doing it with someone you are no longer with, likely for some pretty major reasons, is just… well, hard. I’m pretty sure that while certain aspects of co-parenting may get easier over time, I’m also pretty sure that it never becomes flawless. I mean, what relationship is?

While every co-parenting relationship is different and I’m certainly not a professional expert, there are a few simple key actions in my own co-parenting relationship that I have found make a world of difference… or in some situations, would make a world of difference if they were to happen.

Be friendly when you are all together. It’s inevitable that somewhere along the course of your child’s life, you are all going to have to be in the same location at once. Sporting events, graduations, birthdays, parent-teacher conferences… whatever the occasion, it can make things a lot easier (for you, the co-parent AND your child) to just be friendly in those situations. Say hello to each other. Chat about what you were going to tell them in your next text or email. Maybe even sit together. Let’s be honest… you may rather spend an hour picking up the dog poop in your backyard with a toothpick than hang out with your ex for an hour… but put on an act, fake a smile, whatever you gotta do. I mean, we are all adults here, right? Oh, and this includes stepparents, friends and other family members. Encourage those who are going to be with you to do the same and let them know if you observe otherwise. There is nothing more awkward than the stepparent who makes is super obvious they don’t want to sit anywhere near you… kids are observant and chances are they will notice at some point!

Say thank you. Let’s go back to good ole manners, people. Say thanks… when you ask for a favor and the other parents follows through. When you request a schedule change and the other parents agrees to it. When you call for help because you got stuck in traffic and need the other parent to pick up your child at the last minute. When the other parent changes around their vacation dates so that you can have the dates you prefer. I’m not talking about flowers or a thank you card or a public shout out. A simple verbal “thank you” goes a LONG way. And if you can’t muster up a verbal thanks, send it in a text.

Return phone calls, texts, emails. Even if they don’t require an answer. Text back “ok.” Email back “ok.” Call back and say “ok.” Acknowledge in some quick way that you received their message. Not only is it a good way to make sure that both parties know that the information was received, but it’s just respectful.

Don’t ever tell the other parent that it’s not their business to know that someone besides yourself is watching your child. Now, I’m not saying you need to notify the other parent if you are running out to the store for an hour and your spouse is going to watch your child. That would be ridiculous. I’m not even saying that it’s a requirement to let the other parent know if your spouse or a babysitter is going to regularly be watching your child while you are at work. However, if the other parent asks, just tell them. They have every right to know who their child is with, if he is not with you. If you’re going to say, “it’s not your business,” you might as well also say, “I’m going to belittle your role as a parent to purposefully piss you off and make this co-parenting relationship as difficult as possible.”

Ask their opinion. Even if you don’t need it to make a decision about your child and even if you don’t respect it. Now don’t get me wrong… it’s not a good idea to get yourself into a position where an argument is started because you have different opinions. If it becomes obvious the conversation is headed in that direction, it’s probably best to thank them for their input and get the hell outta Dodge. However, if there are certain aspects of parenting in which you have sole legal rights to make decisions, asking for the other parent’s input can really help foster a positive (or at least a sometimes positive) co-parenting relationship over the course of time.

Exploring the Many Faces of a Simple Kiss

The act of kissing has been an act that has been in existence since the dawn of time. A kiss expresses many different meanings according to who the person is that is delivering it and what his intent is. Kisses are given as a greeting, conveyed through the air or by a peck on the cheek. Kisses such as these are also imparted at the point when farewells are hailed. Then there are the kisses between family members such as mother and father along with children, between siblings, and other relatives. These fall into another category.

15 Really Simple Tips For Your Best Year Ever!

1) Identify a few things that are wrong with your character and attempt, most likely unsuccessfully, to improve them. You’re probably insufficiently grateful or a terrible listener. Maybe you’re just a selfish harpy who only ever thinks of herself.

2) Be more mindful. We don’t actually know what this means, but we believe it refers to a mind that is the opposite of full — really voided out of any thoughts whatsoever. Thoughts make life unnecessarily complicated. Try not to think.

3) Go on an adventure, preferably a controlled one; you don’t want to be unsafe. While you are wherever you are, find a way to reduce this complex culture to one thing that you learned. Maybe you learned how to eat? Or to pray?

4) Commit yourself to a skin regime, including regular exfoliation. Your skin looks terrible.

5) Get organized! Try to organize your dog, who runs around in the most disorderly fashion. Teach her to stay in one place forever, and if she’s incapable of this, return her to the dog store.

6) Resolve to spend more time by yourself and then instantly panic at the idea.

7) Read a book that everyone refers to as “Dickensian.” This means that the book is good because it is reminiscent of the work of a writer you have no interest in reading.

8) De-clutter your home! No matter how much stuff you have, it is too much. Throw it all away, and then build yourself a sleek white box and live in it.

9) Cut down on your housework. Leave the dishes in the sink and dive into that romantic comedy you’ve been dying to watch. You may find that the smell of rotting food becomes almost unbearable after a few days, but you won’t be able to tear yourself away from that charming Gerard Butler and his totally not misogynist films.

10) Learn something new, you ignoramus! You could take up floral arrangement or political activism. Such activities will help you to fill your days and decrease the haunting sensation that you are gazing into your own grave.

11) Unplug. Technology is inherently bad, as everyone knows. As soon as you finish reading this on your laptop, tablet, or Kindle, drop the offending item into a bathtub filled with water and make yourself a cup of chamomile tea.

12) But before you throw away all your devices, contact a person you have lost touch with because you were fundamentally incompatible and lacked shared values, and try to rekindle your friendship based on nothing more than nostalgia and narcissism.

13) Make a list of all the ways that other human beings have disappointed you. Perhaps by being late all the time or by failing to send thank-you cards? Someone must have neglected to buy you a wedding gift 15 years ago. Spend some time reflecting on their shortcomings.

14) Identify a hang-up you have about your physical appearance and then try not to think about it too much. There are so many options: women’s bodies all have something super-gross about them. Maybe you have fat ankles, or your cuticles are unkempt, or your lips are so thin they repulse people.

15) Let your stress go! Why are you so anxious anyway? What the hell is wrong with you!?!

Real Simple Launches Debut Fashion Collection With Cuyana And It's Super Cute (PHOTOS)

Real Simple might not be your go-to glossy for fashion coverage, but the women’s magazine, known for its delicious recipes and insights into home organizing, is putting its fashionable foot forward with its first clothing and accessory collaboration.

For its official foray into fashion retail, Real Simple has decided to partner with Cuyana, a San Francisco-based apparel brand with a minimalist aesthetic that perfectly aligns with the publication’s mission.

“With [Real Simple’s] ‘life made easier’ philosophy and our ‘fewer, better things’ model, the collaboration was a dream,” Shilpa Shah, co-founder of Cuyana, told The Huffington Post.

It was Shah, along with her business partner Karla Gallardo, who reached out to Real Simple to pitch the partnership. “We thought it was a really interesting way for them to get into fashion and for us to spread our message,” Shah explained.

The Cuyana for Real Simple collection, which launches Thursday, includes two effortless shift dresses made in ponte and silk that can easily be jazzed up; a sleek leather tote bag that can be worn day or night; gold- and rose gold-plated bar earrings and a matching necklace for a touch of glitz; and a striped silk scarf that comes in three colorways for both fashion and function.

While Real Simple has already co-branded products and partnerships with Bed Bath & Beyond and Finestationery.com, managing editor Kristin van Ogtrop said that readers have shown an increasing interest in the magazine’s fashion coverage.

“When we met Cuyana, it seemed like the first time we found a partner in this world whose philosophy towards dressing and editing choice really fit our editorial philosophy,” van Ogtrop told The Huffington Post. “Their whole thing is quality over quantity at a price point that’s not crazy. And I think you can say that about Real Simple too.”

Retail prices for the line range from $ 60 for a pair of earrings to $ 325 for the leather carryall. Not too shabby.

Here’s a look at the Cuyana for Real Simple collaboration. What do you think?
