The Disappearance of Polly Dixon and The Persistent Pet Napper. "Funny and insightful." Best friends Paige and Sophie are putting their psychology skills to the test – they've opened an investigations agency. They'll be a detective duo like no other! At least, that's what Paige believes. No one else thinks they'll make something of this new and unexpected venture. But why wouldn't they be a success? Paige understands the mechanics of the mind and Sophie can read behaviour like a book. They're a little light on investigative experience or, erm, practical life skills, but they make up for it with intelligence, tenacity, and diligence. After a couple of frustrating months without even a whiff of a client, they finally get a break. Someone is kidnapping pets, and the head of the Remuera Ladies Bridge Club wants them to find out who. As they start investigating with gusto, the possibility of another case appears. Nineteen-year-old Polly Dixon has disappeared. Can they prove everyone wrong and find the missing girl? "Loved this book from start to finish. It's so funny, witty. The characters are written in such great detail that I could see them in my mind. Can't wait for the next one!" S & S Investigations is a mystery series set in New Zealand. With a bit of crime-fighting, humour, romance and drama, this series has it all. Get started on the Squirrel & Swan adventures today. *Note, Squirrel & Swan: Precious Things is 55,000 words.

She was the perfect stripper for a bachelor party. There was only one problem… she was dead. Christian Slater, Cameron Diaz, Jon Favreau, Jeremy Piven, Daniel Stern and Leland Orser star in the savagely funny, unexpected comedy, Very Bad Things. Kyle Fisher (Favreau) has one last night to celebrate life as a single man before marrying Laura (Diaz), so he sets out to Vegas with four of his best buddies. But a drug and alcohol filled night on the town with a stripper who goes all the way, turns into a cold night in the desert with shovels when the stripper goes all the way into a body bag after dying in their bathroom. And that's just the first of the bodies to pile up before Kyle can walk down the aisle. The four friends decide to bury the evidence, but fate has a way of not letting the truth stay buried for long – several ways in fact, all outrageous, all hilarious and full of jaw-dropping surprises.

8 Things We Learned from Wale on The Breakfast Club

Wale on The Breakfast Club

Source: Power 105 / Power 105

Today (Oct. 11) Wale finally dropped his first full length LP in a hot minute in Wow… That’s Crazy, and right on cue the DC rapper swung through The Breakfast Club with a somewhat defensive demeanor.

Sitting down with the morning trio, Wale proved to be one of the most entertaining interviews in a minute as he deflected questions about his love life throughout the interview while questioning everyone’s motives behind their questions. Even still though Wale went into an unknown Grammy experience, his anxiety issues, and why he feels like he’s a “light” in the music industry.

Here are the 8 things we learned from Wale on The Breakfast Club.

Wale believes that women (whether right or wrong ones) will always teach you a lot about yourself. He’s also “always been big on women’s intuition.” That being said Wale won’t confirm or deny that he’s in a relationship no matter how hard the morning trio tried to get him to admit something. Even though there’s rumors about him having a “lightskinned girlfriend,” later in the interview he refers to himself as an “eligible bachelor” when explaining why he clubs by himself. Then near the end of the interview he says “shout out to my lady though.” Dios mio…

2. Theory tells you how a circuit works, not why it does not work.

3. Not everything works according to the specs in the databook.

4. Anything practical you learn will be obsolete before you use it, except the complex math, which you will never use.

8 Things We Learned from Rick Ross on The Breakfast Club

Rick Ross on The Breakfast Club

Rick Ross isn’t even a week removed from the release of his latest LP Port of Miami 2 and though it’s an exceptional piece of work more people are speaking his name due to what Nicki Minaj had to say about The Bawse on Joe Budden’s podcast.

Still Ross remains unbothered by petty things and swung through The Breakfast Club where he addressed the situation while keeping things diplomatic and positive. Aside from touching on past and current beefs, Ross also confirmed some interesting things about his street life before the music and why Pusha T’s verse didn’t make the much talked about “Maybach Music VI.”

Here are the 8 things we learned from Rick Ross on The Breakfast Club.

As Swim’s Growth Slows, Miami Swim Market Shakes Things Up

On the cusp of the annual Miami swim market, whose trade shows, runway presentations and activations are scheduled from July 11 to 16, the category appears to be as saturated as a wet swimsuit after a dive into the pool.
Marshal Cohen, chief industry adviser, retail, at The NPD Group, said other than being the victim of its own success as new and existing brands, including mass-market retailers, piled on product, resortwear’s and swim’s robust growth has fallen flat as consumers buy the same quantity but at lower prices. He also noted that both categories’ early adoption of new uses, such as beach to street versatility, has been undermined by ath-leisure. Another culprit is climate change, which is wreaking havoc on traditional weather patterns — the U.S. is coming off its wettest 12 months in history, while summer forecasts for below and above average temperatures could keep more people indoors.
“Swimwear has to get its mojo back and find growth outside the market,” said Cohen, of a sentiment felt across fashion from sportswear to trade shows, both of which have expanded well beyond their niches. “Innovation is paramount, too, so swimwear needs a wide-open throttle rather than waiting around for replenishment to

Decoding all those ‘Stranger Things’ ’80s pop culture references

It’s 1985, and the only thing Hawkins, Indiana, has more of than bizarre supernatural/pseudo-scientific phenomena is a plethora of pop culture touchstones. One can be a major “Stranger Things” fan and either be too young to have any memories of the over-the-top decade in which Season 3 is set, or emerged from the Reagan Era with too-fuzzy recall, perhaps owing to when you didn’t “Just Say No.”

Things You Never Want to Hear the Exterminator Say

You know, when you build your next house you might want to consider using steel instead of wood.

It’s a shame you didn’t get that extended protection rider on your pest protection policy.

I’m sorry, but our worker’s compensation policy specifically excludes “killer termites.”

Do you know anyone who owns a bulldozer?

You’ll need to call the Jurassic Park people. Dinosaurs aren’t on the list of pest problems we handle.

Yeah, I realize I’m from Orkin, but I still need your phone book to call Terminix and All-Pest to come help me with this one.

I need to go back to the office to get a bigger truck.

Do you have someplace you could stay for the next three days?

Do you have a high powered rifle handy?

You wouldn’t happen to have some extra pesticides in storage around the house, would you?

“EEEEEKKK!!!!!!”

“Exterminator down! Exterminator down! Send backup!!! Extermin…”

“The good news is… you have termites.”

“Do you happen to have a large net?”

“You know, I’m also a taxidermist.”

“Ma’am, I’m afraid you need to let me take the oatmeal raisin cookies with me.”

“FIRE IN THE HOLE!”

“This could get expensive.”

5 Things You Should Consider When Buying a Pre-Owned Watch

When it comes to shopping for your next luxury watch, you should begin your search by first asking yourself a few simple questions.

“What is your budget? Start there,” says Nathan Nerswick, a client services manager at Crown & Caliber, the Atlanta-based online watch shop where you can sell luxury timepieces and buy everything from a used OMEGA Speedmaster to a Rolex GMT-Master II.

“A lot of people don’t want to talk about money, but I think that’s kind of a baseline,” Nerswick tells Men’s Journal in the video above. “You need to be able to say, ‘Hey, I’m willing to spend $ 5,000.’ Cool, let’s look at $ 5,000 watches.”

Inside the Lab: Crown & Caliber, the Online Luxury Watch Shop

Knowing your budget can help you narrow down your search, especially when you’re looking at the endless options online. Next, Nerswick explains to also focus on the other watches you own. “There’s a big difference between it being your first watch or your fifth watch,” he says, “and so that can really inform the direction we’re going.” But there’s plenty more to consider, especially for the place you’re buying the watch from.

“When you’re looking to buy a watch from anyone—certainly online—the No. 1 thing you need to ask them is if they have actual trained watchmakers,” says Jason Allen, Crown & Caliber’s chief marketing officer. The online shop has its own in-house watchmakers in Atlanta who authenticate and work on every watch that goes up on the brand’s website.

Find out even more must-know watch-buying tips from the pros at Crown & Caliber above.

-Most laptop computers are powerful enough to override the communication systems of any invading alien civilization

-It does not matter if you are heavily outnumbered in a fight involving martial arts – your enemies will wait patiently to attack you one by one by
dancing around in a threatening manner until you have knocked out their predecessors.

-When a person is knocked unconscious by a blow to the head, they will never suffer a concussion or brain damage.

-No one involved in a car chase, hijacking, explosion, volcanic eruption or alien invasion will ever go into shock.

5 Cool Things You Need to Know About Crown & Caliber

Crown & Caliber founder Hamilton Powell came up with the idea of a creating a trustworthy online wristwatch marketplace when listening to a friend complain about trying to sell a Patek Philippe Gondolo. That friend’s options were limited to eBay, Craigslist or, the option he went with, the local pawnshop.

The watch was sold to the pawnshop for $ 5,200, but when the friend walked back through the doors a few weeks later, he noticed the price tag said $ 12,500. Ouch. The fact is, before Crown & Caliber came onto the scene, the business of buying used luxury watches was one seemingly destined to stay fraught with uncertainty. On the authenticity side, even high-profile buyers have admittedly been taken advantage of in the shadowy world of fake Rolexes.

Since launching its website five years ago, the company has helped thousands find the piece of their dreams and sleep soundly in the process, all while building a cool community of collectors. Here’s everything you need to know.

TAG Heuer Carrera (1)
Courtesy Crown & Caliber

IT EMPLOYS A TEAM OF SWISS-TRAINED WATCHMAKERS

Once a watch comes through the doors of the Atlanta headquarters, it gets fully inspected by a team of classically trained watchmakers, technicians, and refinishers. The kind of people who love watches so much they would be tinkering with timepieces even if they weren’t getting paid for it. This team of specialists makes sure that each outgoing product is operating to their Swiss-certified standards, is made of authentic parts and, of course, keeps accurate time.

ITS INSTAGRAM WILL SERIOUSLY UPGRADE YOUR FEED

Our social media feed is always in need for more mechanics and less bad food photos, which makes @crownandcaliber an easy click. Expect plenty of desirable wrist candy like the Rolex GMT-Master II “Pepsi” or the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra. Not only that, but they also do a great job of spotlighting iconic watch lovers with their favorite pieces, like Buzz Aldrin with his OMEGA Speedmaster or Steve McQueen with his Tag Heuer Monaco.

Spike-Feresten-8975 copy
Courtesy Crown & Caliber

IT PRODUCES A SLICK SERIES CALLED “WATCH STORIES”

The artful docu-series profiles people within the diverse watch community, from sportscar racers to auction house heads to chefs, and goes in-depth on the moments and pieces that define them as collectors. Their latest is with renaissance gentleman and Crown & Caliber ambassador Spike Feresten, who hosts one of the most popular automotive podcasts Spike’s Car Radio for Podcast One. Feresten wrote for fellow car enthusiast Jerry Seinfeld on the hit sitcom Seinfeld, and like his old boss he has the kind of car collection that will make any red-blooded man drool. Not to mention a watch collection to match, stocked with racing brands like Rolexes, Tag Heuers, and Tudors.

IT EVEN OFFERS COOL ACCESSORIES BEYOND TIMEPIECES

For most men, spreading your regular watches out on the bureau for selection is a perfectly passable way to display them. But if you are a Crown & Caliber kind of guy, you may be looking for a slightly more elevated presentation. Luckily it also offers watch boxes, cases, and winders from luxury designers WOLF. Family-owned since it was founded in the 1800s, the team designs the products to be passed down generations, just like your watches.

OMEGA Speedmaster Professional
Courtesy Crown & Caliber

THERE’S SOMETHING FOR EVERY RANGE OF COLLECTOR

Whether you are a young professional looking for your first statement piece, or a seasoned collector, there is something for you on Crown & Caliber. The selection features over 40 brands, including signature pieces like the Cartier Tank Francaise, inspired by the French Army’s Renault FT-17 Army Tanks, and the Panerai Radiomir Black Seal. For those in search of their “grail watch”, you may want to check in on the regular; currently a like-new IWC Portuguese Minute Repeater Limited Edition can be snagged for $ 50,000. Looking to treat yourself? Pour a scotch and set aside some time to click through over 2000 timepieces. Better make it a double.

You can shop all the watches at crownandcaliber.com.

9 Things We Learned from The 85 South Show on The Breakfast Club

Instagram Photo

MTV’s Wild ‘N Out might be known as the Nick Cannon show but the improv comedy series has developed a few stars in their own right, namely DC Young Fly, Karlous Miller, and Chico Bean.

Though they’ve come up as individual comics they’ve recently came together to form the threesome known as The 85 South Show. An internet/traveling show, The 85 South Show has been building a core following thanks to the talents of the aforementioned comedians.

Today (Oct. 23), the three jokers checked into The Breakfast Club where they clowned around every chance they got while giving listeners some insight into how they go about their lives.

Touching on topics from sex to why Karlous Miller thinks he got fired from Wild N’ Out, the interview was all kinds of comedy.

Here are the 9 things we learned from DC Young Fly, Chico Bean and Karlous Miller on The Breakfast Club.

1. Whose Idea Was It?

DC and Chico say that forming the 85 South Show was actually Miller’s idea. Being that they hung out regardless he felt they should take their conversations on the road and make a show of it.

Established in 1960, Tower Records was once a retail powerhouse with 200 stores, in 30 countries, on five continents. From humble beginnings in a small-town drugstore, Tower Records eventually became the heart and soul of the music world, and a powerful force in the music industry. In 1999, Tower Records made an astounding $ 1 billion. In 2006, the company filed for bankruptcy. What went wrong? Everyone thinks they know what killed Tower Records: The Internet. But that's not the story. Directed by Colin Hanks, and featuring music icons like Dave Grohl, Elton John and Bruce Springsteen, “All Things Must Pass” is a feature documentary film examining this iconic company's explosive trajectory, tragic demise, and legacy forged by its rebellious founder Russ Solomon.
