Eddie Murphy finally returned to Saturday Night Live last night Dec. 21, and it was well worth the wait. Murphy brought back some of his class characters and invited some Black comic royalty along for the ride, and Lizzo did her things as the musical guest, too.
You knew you were in for a treat (after a hilarious cold open tied to the latest Democratic debate) when we finally got to see Murphy front and center for his monologue. But after a funny Bill Cosby jab, Murphy was playfully interrupted by Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle (and Kenan Thompson, too). It was actually Chappelle who may have had the line of the moment when he said half of Netflix’s budget was on stage, but then Morgan may have stolen that moment.
Then there were the classic characters a new generation of viewers may have been seeing for the first time. Buckwheat and the problematic Velvet Jones were cool, but the funniest were easily Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood, where the title character was now dealing with gentrification, and return of Gumby to the Weekend Update.
In “Black Jeopardy,” Velvet Jones was still living in the 80’s.
But Murphy just didn’t fall back on the OG classics. The “North Pole News Report” saw Murphy as a Black elf detailing what went down during a massacre, by polor bear, at Santa’s workshop.
As for Lizzo, kicked a rocked out version “Truth Hurts,” while sporting some Dapper Dan-style Gucci drip and “Good As Hell” which is her latest single although you’ve surely been hearing it for months, watch on the flip.

Producer and multi-instrumentalist Chong The Nomad has been perfecting a vivid, lo-fi musical style for years and now, the Seattle-based rising star has unveiled an incredibly dope original track. Using various sounds sampled from an airplane, Chong has partnered with Singapore Airlines for quite the unique concept.
Chong, born Alda Agustiano, has been crafting music for years, releasing the EP Love Memo last year along with a string of singles prior. Partnering with Singapore Airlines to announce its new nonstop flight route between Seattle and Singapore, Chong is seen in a new video employing samples via an Airbus A350 aircraft.
Our words do little justice for Chong The Nomad’s expert craftmanship, so check out the video below where the song, cleverly titled “Non-Stop,” is built literally from scratch.

The internet is still hype about Pusha T’s “Maybach Music VI” verse and for good reason. In a recent interview he gave more context about the viscous sixteen bars he laid for Ross.
As spotted on Complex the Virginia native spoke to Joe Budden during the latest edition of The Joe Budden Podcast. Jumpoff wasted no time in getting him to discuss the memorable feature. While the “Drug Dealers Anonymous” rapper didn’t confirm he was taking shots at Drake or Lil Wayne, his answers let us know that he is still about the “if the shoe fits” life.
When asked “why did you do that to this verse that’s not out?” he responded “that’s what we in it for man, we here to rap, bro”. “We all have to do what we do best, the next guy got to do what he does best,” he added. “At this stage of my career, you know, I mean… hey man, hey,” he chuckled.
On the track Push had several lines that could be interpreted as bait for Drizzy or TuneChi including “What a hell of a year, true colors expose/Crowns on these clowns, it’s like you colored they nose.” Ultimately Rick Ross decided to pull his appearance from the final version of Port Of Miami 2 citing that he would like to bring Pusha and Wayne together in a more genuine manner.
